ALYATEC conducted a clinical study with the objective of evaluating the effectiveness of medical masks against asthma symptoms induced by exposure to birch pollen allergens.
24 birch pollen asthmatic patients participated in the study and were exposed to allergens in the ALYATEC environmental exposure chamber with or without a medical mask. The product evaluated in the study is the KOLMI® OP-Air surgical mask marketed by the KOLMI-HOPEN group.
This pilot study showed for the first time a tendency of masks to delay the onset of allergic symptoms.
